With the free cable and 2 HD movies they pretty much gave me the player. Have had no problems with playing disc's whatsoever. Even plays my old DVD+R disc's. Standard DVD's look terrific and as soon as I upgrade to HDMI on my TV I will see what the upconversion looks like. Unit will not upconvert through the component output's. No regrets yet. ...more

It's a shame they discontinued HD DVD, because they have great clarity and good performance. I own this HD DVD player and a Playstation 3, which I use to play Blue Ray movies and seriously, I can't tell the difference. ...more
